From a broken kite to supporting the next generation
The Spark in St. Peter Ording (2006)
It all began during a family vacation in 2006. As a 10-year-old, I stood on the beach with my small Aldi steerable kite, staring fascinated at the sky. There were these guys who were being pulled across the water by huge kites. At that moment, I knew: I want to kitesurf.
The First Business Hustle
My pocket money of €10 a month wasn't enough. So: newspaper delivery. For €67.31, I bid on my first 3.7m² kite on eBay.
Then came the real breakthrough: I bought defective kites for ~€50, my mother sewed them back together, and I sold them repaired for €300. That's how I financed my dream.
High Flights & Setbacks
From the first dangerous jump in the field (including a broken arm) to the Red Bull Coast to Coast race from Fehmarn to Denmark. But knee injuries eventually showed me my limits. The dream of becoming a professional faded into the background.
Why OceanTalents exists
Today, I'm at a different point. With Oceanmata, we fight for clean oceans – our playground. But I've never forgotten how hard I had to fight for every square meter of kite back then.
OceanTalents is my way of giving back. I want to give young water sports enthusiasts the support I worked so hard for back then.
It's time to pass on the dream.
