That's exactly how I felt last year!

And maybe the following sounds familiar to you too.

I found perfect waves and sunsets, but also tons of plastic waste.

Plastic waste that we are all responsible for and somehow I felt powerless.

Again and again you see pieces of plastic on the beach that simply destroy this wonderful nature and, in the long term, endanger surfing , the ocean and our health .

And this is where our idea came from.

What we do?

Collect and recycle ocean plastic

We have our own Ocean Clean Up Team in Medewi. We collect washed-up ocean plastic every day.

Sad but true! In the small coastal town of Medewi, there is no garbage collection service. Household waste is simply burned. We at OceanMata recycle this waste as well.

Fighting poverty

Three meals a day, sending their children to school, a roof over their heads—these are just a few examples of what our team in Indonesia has dreamed of. And you're helping make it possible. Our team receives an above-average salary. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, residents are missing income from tourism.

Avoid plastic

We want to avoid plastic. That's why we've recently been collaborating with local schools. Through play, children learn about the dangers of plastic waste.
